Senior Collector
Location: Birmingham, Alabama

The primary responsibility of this position is to work with customers to collect funds or offer solutions on all types of delinquent accounts, including mortgage and small business accounts, in order to prevent forecl! osures and to mitigate losses for the bank.
Responsibilities and Duties
Answer inbound customer calls to assist customers regarding their loans
Make outbound calls to customers and send loss mitigation information packages in an effort to collect payments and/or facilitate solutions to resolve delinquency
Accurately document the Collections system and bank’s loan system with all activities on the account
Comply with all federal regulations as well as bank policies
Review and analyze financial information to formulate a satisfactory resolution to assist the borrower and mitigate losses and delinquencies.
Order and review appraisals, title reports, property inspections, and other necessary documentation to determine the course of action to be taken on accounts secured by real estate.
Complete an equity analysis on accounts secured by real estate, determine if accounts require write-downs in compliance with federal regulations
An! swer questions pertaining to all areas of loan servicing inclu! ding payment research, taxes, insurance, loan modifications and assumptions, payoffs, credit reporting, and lien perfection.
Work with outside vendors and attorneys to repossess/secure collateral.
Utilize skip tracing and asset search tools in an effort to locate and reach customers
Achieve individual goals while helping the bank achieve delinquency goals and mitigate losses
Required Skills
3+ years of mortgage servicing/collections experience, preferably with loss mitigation experience
Knowledge of Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Bankruptcy laws, as well as all fair lending and servicing regulations
Experience with computer programs, proficient typing skills
Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Word
Must be detail oriented
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong negotiation and decision making skills
Creative problem-solving skills; ability to make quick decisions
Must be able to work in a fast pa! ced team environment with minimal supervision
Additional languages a plus
