    Responsibilities

    If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team with the United States Attorney's office for the Middle District of Alabama. Typical work assignments will include:

    • Providing visitor information and serves as a receptionist for the district.
    • Receiving telephone calls and visitors to the office.
    • Controlling access to the office and insures that only visitors properly cleared are authorized entry.
    • Responding to inquiries, providing general information regarding office programs.
    • Producing a variety of written documents utilizing varied and advanced word processing software functions, working from handwritten draft, edited copy or electronic files.
    • Receiving, reviewing, and distributing incoming mail.
    • Ensuring mail re ceived from other agencies is appropriately screened and distributed.

    Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.

    Qualifications

    GS-4: To be eligible at the GS-4 level, you must meet one full year of general experience as defined below .

    General Experience : General experience is defined as experience performing the following types of duties: receiving telephone calls and visitors, producing a variety of documents using varied word processing software programs, (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power point); Ensuring documents are in proper format and that proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, and capitalization have been verified.

    Education: I have two years of education above the high school level.

    Combination of general experience and education: Combination of general experience a s described in A and education as described in B which when combined equal 100% of the requirements. Successfully completed post-high school education may be used to meet the total one year of general experience requirement equivalent to the GS-4 grade level.

    To be qualified, you must type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. (A typing test may later be required.)

    Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if: 1) this vacancy is within your ICTAP eligibility; 2) you apply under the instructions in the announcement; and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy. To be well-qualified, you must satisfy all qualification requirements for the vacant position and receive a score of 85 or better on established ranking criteria.
