This position-
Reviews denials, researches documentation, and requests additional ! documentation in preparation for response
Writes appeal letters for all appeal levels
Conducts administrative law judge hearings
Cooperatively works with regional DOCS to identify trends/training needs related to documentation, reimbursement and coding
Provides onsite and offsite training in documentation/coding as directed by the Director of Appeals Management
Acts as Intermediary Liaison by ensuring proper reimbursement of claims, researching current LCDs, and advocating for the necessity of skilled services
Acts as Professional Association Liaison by researching changes in current clinical trends and keeping current on legal/ethical issues affecting our therapy practices
Qualified candidates for the Appeals Specialist position will have-
Active PT, OT, or SLP license, in good standing
Ability to travel
3 years experience, some long term care experience required
Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Abilit! y to work cooperatively and positively with therapists, custom! ers, and coworkers
Demonstrated ability to communicate and train in a multi-disciplinary environment
Strong attention to detail
Strong ability to effectively manage time and adhere to strict deadlines
