Under general supervision, support the company’s Plant Security Program by investigating claims of unauthorized connections to Charter services, collecting evidence, preparing and presenting evidence for potential prosecution, and pursuing appropriate course of action with individuals engaged in unethical activity.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience
Perform account research, gather documentation of prior disconnects, collect evidence from current disconnect, and write reports in accordance with strict guidelines
Identify, photograph, and document addresses found to have unauthorized connections on more than one occasion. Build evidence file for repeat offenders.
Work with law enforcement agencies, attorneys, courts and other related agencies regarding criminal prosecution and/or civil litigation for theft of cable service
Provide testimony as needed in both civil and criminal proceedings
Identify buildings, areas and/or patterns of unauthorized connections; participate in making recommendations for all digital service in a building and/or area
Identify routine and non-routine methods for obtaining unauthorized service
Analyze various reports to identify potential plant security violations
Investigate potential plant security violations and work with appropriate internal and external entities to address and correct unethical behavior among Charter employees and Service Partner employees
Conduct all work in compliance with safe work practices, company policy, applicable laws and regulations
Perform other duties as requested by supervisor
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills / Abilities and Knowledge
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
Ability to work while standing 50 - 70% of the time
Ability to walk over all types of terrain in all kinds of weather
Ability to differentiate between different sizes and colors of wires
Ability to safely use weight-bearing equipment (such as gaffs, safety harness and ladders) within the maximum weight limitations of that equipment
Familiarity with computer operating systems, wireless devices and computer applications
Ability to travel (including during inclement weather) to and from assigned territories and company facilities using a reliable personal vehicle
Ability to work outside for extended periods in any season and/or during inclement weather
Familiarity with computer operating systems, a myriad of consumer and commercial communications devices (e.g., PDAs, smartphones, routers, modems, converters, and wireless devices), and computer software applications
Ability to complete documentation accurately
Ability to work independently
Ability to adhere to Local, Federal regulations and Company policies
Certifications and/or Licenses
Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record within Company required standards

Knowledge and ability to use the following office equipment computer telephone, copier, fax, calculator, and e-mail
Ability to accurately measure distances using tapes or other measuring devices
Ability to operate appropriate computer or test equipment associated with position

Knowledge of basic mathematics and electronics
Vision ability close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus
Experience with consumer education of products and services
Education (level and type)
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Related Work Experience Number Of Years
Law Enforcement/Investigation training or experience. 2+
Technical work experience, preferred 1+
Certifications and/or Licenses
Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (NCTI, SCTE)
WORKING CONDITIONS
Office work and field work which may include working indoors in confined space, poorly ventilated areas such as attics, basements and/or crawlspaces
Exposure to dust, dirt, noise, insects, rodents, pets, and cleaning solutions
Work outdoors in all kinds of weather and at all times of the day or night
Work performed near power lines and electricity
Work performed at various heights above ground on telephone/power poles
Work and travel in inclement weather
Occasionally required to work overtime as the business needs dictate
