Provides advice and counsel on legal matters or problems involving the credit union. Acts as secondary in-house legal advisor of the organization. Represents the credit union in bankruptcy, foreclosure and other legal proceedings.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
35% Develops and prepares assigned cases.
20% Confers with and advises personnel and other company officials as to legal interpretation of relevant issues.
20% Reviews files to make determinations about possible legal action to assert claims and defenses.
20% Represents the Credit Union in bankruptcy and other related matters.
5% Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Required Skills
Experience: Two to five years of similar or related experience.
Education: A Juris Doctorate degree required.
Interpersonal Skills: The ability to motivate or influence others is material part of the job, requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job and a high level of interpersonal skills are critical to the success of this position. Work frequently involves contacts requiring considerable discussion of problems, material presentations, and resolving issues impacting departments or divisions.
Other Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing/
