Description: Canadian National Railway is looking of Pipefitter right now, this position will be assigned in Alabama. For detail informations about this position opportunity please give attention to these descriptions. Role:
A Sheet metal worker services and maintains diesel locomotives in accordance with federal and company regulations; diagnoses carbody and frame malfunctions and makes indicated repairs usi! ng hand tools, measuring instruments, and pipefitting as related to craft.

Principal Responsibilities:
Diesel Sheet Metal Workers are generally responsible for: repairing locomotive components following Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) regulations and company policy; providing locomotive maintenance, including repairing, replacing, cleaning and adjusting parts assembling as related to maintaining carbody and frame parts and assemblies; diagnosing locomotive component malfunctions as related to the sheet metal worker craft; preparing inspection, work and maintenance reports; and performing other essential and nonessential functions as assigned.

Qualifications :
Any employee who has served an apprenticeship or who has had four (4) or more years’ experience at the various branches of the trade, who is qualified and capable of doing sheet metal work or pipe work as applied to buildings, machinery, locomotives, cars, ets., wh! ether it be tin, sheet iron, or sheet copper, with or without ! the aid of drawings, and capable of bending, fitting and brazing of pipe, shall constitute a sheet metal worker.

Minimum Requirements:
Mental: A Sheet Metal Worker is required to follow company safety procedures, use common sense, and maintain an overall level of safety awareness when operating in the work environment. A Sheet Maker Worker must be able to make effective decisions when in unfamiliar locations or emergency situations; be able to understand and provide written, graphic, and oral communications such as instructions, explanations, blueprints, revisions to initial assignments, etc; be able to understand and apply mechanical principles; and be able to judge the condition of objects/parts for wear and/or defects. Sheet Metal Workers’ work shall consist of tinning and pipefitting in shop, yards, buildings or passenger coaches and engines of all kinds; the building, erecting, assembling, installing, dismantling and maintaining parts made ! of sheet metal, brass, tin, zinc, white metal, black, and galvanized iron of ten (10) gauge and lighter, including brazing, soldering, tinning, the bending, fitting, cutting, threading, brazing, connecting and disconnecting of air, water, gas, oil in connection with sheet metal workers’ work, oxyacetylene, thermit and electrical welding on work generally recognized as sheet metal workers’ work, and all other work generally recognized as Sheet Metal Workers’ work.

Regular and helpers apprentices are included under this rule. Helpers will assist sheet metal workers and apprentices in performing their work.
