Under general supervision of the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Specialist provides support to managers, districts, subsidiaries, and employees for all payroll needs. The PR Specialist must ! analyze reports for accuracy and maintains payroll files to fulfill all agency requirements. This position relies on extensive experience and judgment to provide instructions and communicate pre-established practices and procedures.
This position requires routine one-on-one interaction with employees, supervisors and management and must have the ability to demonstrate a demeanor of professionalism in face to face employee interactions.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Train district payroll contacts, employees and managers on the time and attendance software in Attendance Enterprise
Communicate and provide assistance to manager, key district payroll contacts and employees to resolve payroll issues and inquiries
Process updates to employee payroll status regarding new employees, transfers, lay-off, leaves of absence and related actions
Audit data imported from time and attendance to ADP for accuracy
Research and a! nalyze bank items and other inquiries from accounting
Anal! yze research and provide report to various agencies, departments and managers weekly, monthly, quarterly or annually
Research and calculate manual checks and retro payments
Analyze and setup court orders; garnishments, child supports and tax levies. Determine the proper method of deduction and where payments should be issued. Work closely with the court or attorney to ensure compliance
Audit and balance the Fidelity Report prior to releasing to the Benefits Department
Quality Responsibility: Responsible for providing error-free work to all internal and external customers as related to the output of the position
Credentials and experience:
Minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in Payroll.
Prefer experience in ADP
Knowledge, skills, and abilities required:
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Must be able to prioritize tasks within scope of position
Demonstrate professionalism through individual po! ise, tact and diplomacy
Must adapt to change in the work environment, manage competing demands and deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events
Consistently at work on time, follow instructions, respond to management direction, and solicit feedback to improve performance
Must have above average communication skills
Must have the ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form
Must be able to maintain confidentiality
