Member of the Commercial and Regulatory Legal Team providing legal support to: (1) regulatory strategy/government affairs and (2) commercial, corporate and investment banking segments. The lawyer will provide strategic advice/analysis and guidance on regulatory and legislative developments. The lawyer will provide legal advice to commercial bankers on a wide range of legal matters and will have management responsibility for at least one junior lawyer.
The lawyer will have major client respo! nsibilities and will need to consistently understand, work wit! h and be responsive to the needs of business units. It is expected that the lawyer will be regularly sought out directly by the clients for advice and input on legal matters, policy and procedures. Must be able to work independently on matters of significance to the organization.
Eight or more years of significant law firm or in-house bank counsel experience: (1) counseling financial institutions with respect to federal or state law regulatory structures, strategies and compliance; and (2) negotiating commercial lending transactions
Four or more years of significant law firm (or in-house) experience leading or managing a team of attorneys
Experience with swaps and documentation of swap transactions
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong academic credentials
A JD or an LLM from an ABA accredited law school
An active license to practice law in at least one state in the U.S.
